Michael McCabe
Mr. McCabe is a Senior Consultant with IDTP specializing in AFIS technology, technical standards, biometric performance analysis and related systems development. Prior to joining IDTP, Mr. McCabe dedicated over forty years of service to the National Institutes of Science and Technology (NIST). He received his BS in Physics from John Carroll University and his MS in Computer Applications from American University. For the past twenty years Mr. McCabe worked closely with the FBI to provide support in biometrics technology and AFIS related projects for law enforcement. During his career, he facilitated and managed the development of the ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2007 standard for the Interchange of Fingerprint, Facial, & Other Biometric Information from the standard’s inception in the 1980s to its recent 2007 revision. He also serves as the editor for four commercial biometric standards in the ANSI and ISO arenas. In 2001 Mr. McCabe was the recipient of the NIST Edward Bennett Rosa Award, and in 2003 he received a Department of Commerce Gold Medal Award.
